This temple was originally built in 1164. This temple is about 120 meters long and it has more than 1000 statues of the Buddhist deity. I was overwelmed by the number. We are not allowed to take pictures inside. If you are interested in old Japanese statues, please visit here. (HP:http://sanjusangendo.jp/b_1.html )

This house is called "Kazamidori no Yakata" which means a house with a weathercock. It was built in 1909 by a german trading merchant, Gottfried Thomas and was designated as the national impotant Cultural Property. We can go inside and enjoy old interior design and funiture. The house below is called "Moegi no Yakata"(Ligh Green House), the national important Cultural Property was built in 1903 by Mr. Hunter Sharp, a former US Consul General. From the balcony on the second floor, we can see the great view of Kobe.
We have big china towns in Yokohama, Kobe and Nagasaki. People are enjoying various kinds of chinese foods here.
China town in Kobe is called " Nankin machi " 1/11 was a Coming- of -Age Day in Japan. Local goverments throughout Japan held the ceremonies. New adults who will become 20 years old this year attended the ceremonies. Every year most women who attend the ceremonies wear Kimono, so I saw a lot of beautiful girls wearing kimono in Kobe yesterday.
Kobe has been one of the most famous port towns in Japan. When Japan opened up to the world in the 19th century after around 200 years of isolation, a lot of foreign people came to Kobe. They were traders, teachers, architects, consuls and so on. They built a lot of western style buildings and houses here. Kobe has still reserved some of them. These buildings are called "Ijinkan(異人館)" I want to introduce a few of them. This house is now used by Starbucks. Originally it was built by an American named M.J シェー in 1907. This is a typical colonial-style house.
Hatsumode is the first visit paid on the New Year Holidays to a shrine or temple. We pray our happiness and health for the new year. Before praying, we have to clean our hands with this water. People are trying to be covered with incense smoke, because it is said to be beneficial to our health. A lot of people!
At many stations, you can find very cheap and delicious noodle restaurants throughout Japan. At most of them, before taking your seat, you have to buy a food ticket(shokken). This restaurant is located in Nishinomiyakitaguchi station in Hyogo prefecture. I've loved this restaurant since I was a university student. The cheapest food is only about 350 yen(3 US dollars).
